Deep clean or regular clean: which one does your home need?
People book the wrong one constantly, in both directions. A regular visit on a home that has not been cleaned in a year leaves everyone disappointed. A deep clean on a well-kept condo is money spent on work that was already done.
The honest test
Run a finger along the top of a door frame, then look behind the faucets in the bathroom and at the grout line where the shower meets the floor. If those three places are fine, your home has a baseline and a regular visit will hold it.
If any of them make you wince, that is buildup, and buildup does not come off in a standard visit. It needs time and it needs someone working at it, which is what a deep clean buys.
What a regular clean covers
Kitchen surfaces, the sink, appliance exteriors, bathrooms including toilets and showers, floors vacuumed and washed, reachable dusting, mirrors and glass. It is maintenance. The point is that the home never gets far from where it was last time.
It works beautifully on a home with a baseline, and it disappoints on a home without one, because the visit runs out of time before it reaches the things you actually noticed.
What a deep clean covers that a regular one does not
We call ours a deep clean. Whatever the name, the extra work is where the difference lives.
- Kitchen degreasing on the stovetop, the backsplash and around the range hood, which is slow work that a regular visit cannot absorb.
- Bathroom buildup on tiles, grout lines and shower glass, rather than a wipe over surfaces that are already clean.
- Baseboards, door frames, switches and handles, which collect marks nobody sees until someone points at them.
- Ledges, sills, radiators and the tops of furniture you can reach standing.
The money question
A deep clean costs $40 more than a recurring visit at the same layout and includes an extra hour. On a one bedroom that is $170 against $130.
That gap is smaller than most people expect, which is why booking a reset first and switching to recurring afterwards is usually the cheapest route to a home that stays clean. You pay the extra once, not every visit.
When you genuinely need neither
If you are moving out, you want the empty-home clean instead, because the scope is different: cabinet interiors, the oven, the empty fridge, and floors in rooms nothing is standing in. Booking a deep clean on a furnished home you are about to empty means paying to clean around boxes.
