How often should you have your home cleaned?
Most people pick a frequency by guessing and then feel vaguely wrong about it either way. There is a more useful question than "how often should I", and it is "how fast does this particular home get away from me".
Every two weeks suits most homes
It is the default for a reason. A fortnight is long enough that the visit is worth the money and short enough that nothing has time to become buildup. Kitchens and bathrooms stay ahead of the curve rather than catching up with it.
It also carries a 8% discount on our card, which narrows the gap with monthly more than people expect.
Weekly, if the house is busy
Small children, more than one pet, someone cooking properly most nights, or a household where several people work from home. These are the conditions where a fortnight is genuinely too long and the second week is visibly worse than the first.
Weekly takes 15% off, the largest discount, because the home is in the best condition when we arrive.
Every four weeks, if upkeep is good
A couple or a single person in a condo who wipes counters and does not let the bathroom slide can sit comfortably on monthly. The visit handles the things that are tedious rather than the things that are urgent.
It stops working when life gets busy, and the usual sign is that each visit starts feeling like it needs more time than it has.
The thing that actually decides it
Not the size of the home. Bathrooms and the kitchen drive the workload, so a small condo with two bathrooms and a lot of cooking can need more attention than a three bedroom where two people are barely home.
If you are unsure, start every two weeks for a couple of months and adjust. It is easier to read your own home from two visits than from any advice.
Start from a baseline either way
Whatever frequency you choose, it holds a standard rather than creating one. If the home has buildup now, a reset first gives the recurring visits something to maintain. Skipping that step means the first several visits go on catching up, and the schedule gets blamed for it.
